Lillies Dream began with one sewing machine, a table covered in fabric, and a determination to make children’s clothing differently
What started in my hands has grown into a small independent brand, but the way we work has never changed. Every piece still begins with an original idea, a pattern created from scratch, and a belief that children’s clothes should be beautiful, practical and made with care
I did not begin with a factory or a finished collection. I began by drawing, cutting, fitting, sewing and often starting again until each piece felt right
I made the early patterns and garments myself, learning through every seam and every adjustment. I later attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York to study pattern making and strengthen the technical knowledge behind the work I was already doing by hand
Those first pieces began travelling from one family to another. As more customers found Lillies Dream, I eventually reached the point where one sewing machine and one pair of hands could no longer meet the demand
When it became time to find a production partner, I knew I could not simply hand my designs to any facility. I needed a team that would understand the way I constructed a garment and respect the methods I had developed from the beginning
After a long search, we partnered with a modern, certified facility in Humen, Dongguan, China. Their skilled team works in good conditions, receives fair wages and shares our commitment to careful construction and consistent quality
We work closely throughout the process. I develop the design and pattern, review the samples, refine the fit and examine the construction until every detail is right. Growing the brand has allowed us to make more pieces, but it has never meant letting go of the standards behind them
Every Lillies Dream piece is original and born from my own imagination, experience and understanding of pattern making
Nothing is chosen from a catalogue or purchased as a ready made design. I begin with an idea, then work through the shape, proportions, movement and construction until it becomes something recognisably ours
Some designs take many versions before they are ready. A strap may need to sit differently, a skirt may need more movement, or a hem may need greater depth so the piece can be worn for longer. These decisions are small, but together they are what give our clothing its character
Sustainability was never something I added to Lillies Dream as a marketing idea. It is simply part of the way I live
It influences the food we eat, the soaps we use on ourselves and in our home, the fabrics we surround ourselves with and, naturally, the way we dress. I could not have built the brand any other way
We work only with natural fibres and thoughtfully chosen closures, avoiding plastic buttons and unnecessary synthetic materials. We create clothing to be worn often, adjusted as children grow, passed between siblings and kept long after a season has ended
Lillies Dream grew through word of mouth long before it grew through advertising
Our earliest customers shared the clothes with friends, returned for new sizes, dressed siblings together and introduced the brand to other families. That support allowed us to grow from a small sewing table into the business we are today
We remain deeply grateful for that trust. We love knowing our customers, hearing how the clothes are worn and watching children grow through the years and sizes
From the first piece I made by hand to every collection we create today, the intention remains the same: original children’s clothing, thoughtfully constructed from honest materials and made to become part of family life
The greatest part of growing Lillies Dream has been seeing these pieces become part of real childhoods, passed between siblings, worn on ordinary days and remembered through the years
